Claire Mill from Q's Snooker Club in Dublin won the National RIBSA 6 Reds Ladies Snooker Championships on Sunday 6th March in CYMS Newbridge.
Notable matches were Michelle and Katie French a battle between mother and daughter. Katie was no match for Michelle but potted some good balls throughout. Another was Claire Mill and Ronda Sheldreck the first frame went down the colours, the second frame Claire turned it up and won the frame and then Ronda came into it in the third frame but pot the pink only to go in off. The pink was frame ball. It was an important win for Claire.
Claire Mill and Michelle French finished tied on frame points at the end of the round-robin phase. The final was a close affair with 2 in form players. Michelle took the first, with some solid potting, then Claire took the next 2 frames to be 1 in front. It went 2 all with some good safety play from Michelle. In the deciding frame Michelle had a good lead but Claire fought back to bring to 2 point ahead. With some good safety play from Claire, Claire had an excellent clearance from green to pink to clear up with a 20 break to ensure the trophy with a 3-2 win. Congratulations go to Claire on her first national 6 reds title.
Ronda Sheldreck came 3rd on the day. RIBSA ladies would like to thank Newbridge Snooker Club for the hospitality and for the superb playing conditions.
