The 2014 Irish Snooker Championships here in the Ivy Rooms SC in Carlow is buzzing with excitement after Josh Boileau's 137 break earlier in the day. In the second session there were outstanding victories for TJ Dowling when he qualified in style beating last year runner up Robert Redmond 4 frames to 3
Earlier Colm Gilcrest and Ryan Cronin also qualified with wins over Diarmuid O Connor and Aaron Tobin. Both Gilcrest and Cronin won 4-0. All matches are best of 7 frames and the cream of the Irish scene are trying to qualify for the last 16 which will be played during RIBSA Championship weekend on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of May it promises to be a great weekend of snooker.
Last year's Champion Michael Judge has just made his defence of his title against Stephen Reddigton while Irish number 1 Robert Murphy is up against Daniel O Regan. Last year's Master Champion Mark Tuite and David Cassidy played one of the matches of the round with the Cork man coming out the winner 4-1 and will play Josh Boileau to qualify.
The High Break so far is Josh Boileau with his fantastic 137 Break.
