The 4th Ladies ranking event took place in Newbridge CYMS on Sunday 26th January. Michelle French played Emeirjeta Doda in the q-final. The 1st frame was very close all the way through and Michelle had to rely on her nerve and experience to finally win it on the black. She settled down then and allthough Emirjeta played some excellent snooker, Michelle comfortably won the next 2 frames to win 3-0 and set up a semi-final match with Claire Mill.
The 1st frame was very close all the way, at the end Michelle pot the brown and an unbelievable blue to pink; she rolled the pink in for an easy black but it stayed in the jaws of the pocket, and Claire pot the pink to snatch the frame.Claire managed to win the next frame and in the 3rd Michelle had a frame ball again which she missed, a mistake punished by Claire when she won the frame and match by 3-0 to reach her 3rd final of the season. The other semi-final was a re-run of last months final between Michelle Sherwin and Annette Newman. There was nothing between these two in the 1st frame, it was very close right to the end but Michelle won to take a 1-0 lead. Both players struggled to find form in the match, but Michelle went on to win the match 3-0.
In the final Claire had a 28 point lead in the 1st frame but Michelle kept coming back at her, and in an excellent and close frame Michelle eventually won the frame on the black ball. Michelle won the next frame convincingly to take 2-0 lead, but the 3rd frame was again very close with Michelle taking it on the black to win the frame and match and her 4th ranking title of the season.
